Donations in 2017 topped £100,000 and ranged from grants of £750 to £25,000.
In addition to the fifth year of funding for the Annington Challenge, an initiative run in conjunction with The Outward Bound Trust and over £26,000 to the RBLI for the Lifeworks for Families Project, the Trust made a three year commitment of more than £44,000 to Aggie's Storybook Waves in support of their new Book Club initiative for naval families. The Trust also pledged over £16,000 to SSAFA for their Siblings and Young Carers Break and donated £3,500 to the Welfare Centre at MOD Abbey Wood.
The RAF benefitted from more than £35,000 of donations with the Trust pledging £10,000 to RAF Scampton to help fund the costs of developing a Youth Hub for use by the 200 youngsters on the Base.
A pledge of £10,000 was made to the RAF Benevolent Fund to help replace the four play parks at RAF Valley on the Isle of Anglesey, all of which are in various states of disrepair. The RAF Benevolent Fund also received a further grant of £5,500. The money will be used to help cover the costs of garden landscaping at the new premises of the Departments of Community Mental Helath (DCMH) Eastern Region at RAF Digby. The garden will help aid personnel from all three services in their mental wellbeing and thereby assist in optimising operational effectiveness.
Other recipients of funding included RAF Benson, RAF Odiham, RAF Digby, RAF St Mawgan and RAF Brize Norton. They were amongst a number who successfully applied for funding for their Family Days, Service Days - or in the case of RAF Boulmer, the Boulmer Bonanza!
